High School Graduation Requirements

In order for a student to graduate from Harmony Public Schools, the student must fulfill:
1. HPS High School Credit Requirement
2. Passing Score on Texas State Assessments (STAAR)
3. Admission by a 4-Year College
4. Minimum 100 Community Service Hours

Advanced Placement

HPS supports any student who wants to accept the challenges of an advanced class. The opportunity to be in Advanced Placement (AP) classes’ carries with it certain assumptions about the capabilities and maturity of students completing the college level work that AP courses represent. AP coursework requires students to engage in more independent analytical reading, academic discourse, and writing assignments, both inside and outside the classroom.

Dual Credit Program

Dual credit is a process through which a student may earn high school credit for successfully completing a college course that provides advanced academic instruction beyond, or in greater depth than, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for a corresponding high school course. The “dual credit” earned is college credit and high school credit for one course.
